International Women's Day

On International Women’s Day we recognise and honour the amazing contributions of women and girls in Scouting and beyond, who inspire us with their leadership, creativity, and courage. This year, let’s continue to work towards a world where every young person – no matter their gender – has the chance to shape their future and make a difference.

Women's History Month (Mar)

Celebrate the vital role of women in our history and society. 

Activities to try:

Ramadan (expected evening of 17 Feb to 18 Mar)

The Islamic month of Ramadan will start on the evening the new crescent moon is sighted. Muslims around the world will fast for 30 days, before celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, St David's Day (Sun 1 Mar)

St David's Day (Dydd Gŵyl Dewi) celebrates Wales' patron saint and is a big day throughout the country. You can get a blanket badge from Scouts Store, too. Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! 

Activities to try:

Purim (evening Mon 2 to Tues 3 Mar)

The Jewish festival of Purim is celebrated with fancy dress, parades and reading of the story of Esther.

National Careers Week (2 to 7 March)

Get inspired by some of our Supporters on National Careers Week.

You can:

Repair Week (2 to 8 March)

Get fixing, mending and upcycling, to give your things a new lease of life and save them from the bin. Check locally in your community to see what events might be happening and how you could get involved.

World Wildlife Day (Tues 3 Mar)

Celebrate the beautiful diversity of the plants and animals we share our planet with on World Wildlife Day.

World Engineering Day (Wed 4 Mar)

Celebrate engineering achievements that are driving sustainability. Find out more information about World Engineering Day or through the UNESCO website.

Holi (Wed 4 Mar)

Holi is the popular Hindu festival of colours. It celebrates love, colour, and the triumph of good over evil.

World Book Day (Thurs 5 Mar)

Celebrate the magic of books and reading on World Book Day. Who will you dress up as?

Global Day of Unplugging (sundown Fri 6 to Sat 7 Mar)

Unplug from your devices for the day, or why not try and take it one step further and unplug from electricity all together.

Paralympic Winter Games (Fri 6 to Sun 15 Mar)

Disabled athletes from across the globe will display their skill and determination in sports like skiing, snowboarding, and ice hockey at the Winter Paralympics in Italy.

British Science Week (Fri 6 to Sun 15 Mar)

Get experimenting, get building, get making and get messy on British Science Week, this year the theme is 'Curiosity: what's your question?'. We even have some pre-made plans to help inspire you!
