Get creative!
Being creative and artistic is all about using your imagination to express yourself. Whether it’s drawing, painting, music, drama, or crafts, Scouts can explore new skills, share ideas, and make something unique. Creativity helps us solve problems, work together, and have fun while bringing our own stories to life.
National Stress Awareness Month (April)
Learn about the causes for stress and how to cope with life's pressures. We have loads of healthy lifestyle activities to choose from.
Activities to try:
- Organise a de-stresstival.
- Write some postcards for better mental health.
- Enjoy a mindfulness walk.
- Have a go at some mindfulness techniques.
April Fool’s Day (Wed 1 April)
Try not to get fooled on this day of practical jokes.
Activities to try:
- Find facts, not fake news in Bogus bulletins
- Learn how to spot fake news
- Learn how banter can turn into bullying in It's just banter
- Delve in to some mystery and play what's in the box.
World Autism Acceptance Week (Fri 27th March to Thurs 2 April)
Developed from World Autism Awareness Day (2 April). Help everyone feel welcome and valued at Scouts by learning about autism and how we can create a more inclusive world.
Activities to try:
Passover (Evening Wed 1 to Thurs 9 April)
During Passover, Jews remember a time when their ancestors escaped from slavery, and celebrate freedom. Families get together for a special meal called the Seder.
Activities to try:
Read a Road Map Day (Sun 5 April)
Challenge your map reading skills.
Activities to try:
- Make a match box map.
- Map it out.
- Map-read with speed as you search for symbols and landmarks with grid references as you play six figure bingo.
Easter (Fri 3 to Mon 6 April)
The Christian celebration of Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It's celebrated culturally by the exchanging of chocolate eggs.
- Play a glow in the dark egg hunt.
- Make delicious hot cross buns in a mug.
- Try egg dying.
- Play a fun game in egg-cellent races.
World Health Day (Tue 7 April)
This celebration is hosted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to help tackle health challenges, both now and in the future. Learn more about promoting a healthy lifestyle with your young people.
Activities to try:
- How to be healthy.
- Chart your daily activities using the healthy balance clock
- Make Groovy Smoothies
- Cook a delicious healthy campfire meal of sausage, pepper and potato packets.
International Beaver Day (Tue 7 April)
Get outside and den build, just like a Beaver. Why not take a moment to celebrate our Beaver Scouts too?
Activities to try:
- Be busy as a beaver.
- Run a beaver log chew.
- Learn how to care for animals in pet care scavenger hunt.
National Unicorn Day (Thurs 9 April)
Celebrate this mythical animal, the Scottish national animal. Which symbolizes purity, strength, and freedom.
- Practise some mythical creature movements with moorland myths
- Bake some delicious Scottish shortbread
- Host your own highland games
- test some tasty Scottish treats, Crowdie or cranachan
National Pet Day (Sat 11 April)
Give your pet some extra love in this day that is all about celebrating our animal pals!
Activities to try:
Vaisakhi (Tues 14 April)
Get involved with the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi (also known as Baisakhi) which celebrates the founding of the Sikh community. Find out more about Vaisakhi in our blog.
Activities to try:
- Make a lion mask or plate
- Plan a visit to a gurdwara with Sacred sites
- Make a place of worship collage.
World Art Day (Wed 15 April)
Cultivate you artistic tendencies on World Art Day.
Activities to try:
- Explore the world of art.
- Go on an art gallery scavenger hunt.
- Try traditional Turkish art.
World Circus Day (Fri 17 April)
World Circus Day celebrates circus creators, performers and artists.
Activities to try:
- Learn circus skills with Night at the big top
- Pretend to be elephants and play elephant ball.
- Work as a team in balloon balance battle.
- Learn balancing skills on your bike in bike balance gymnastics.
Earth Day (Wed 22 April)
Show your support for environmental protection by doing something good for the planet. There's a new badge available to buy from Scout Store, too.
Activities to try:
- Try some Earth Tribe activities.
- Connect with nature and Meet a tree
- Plant your own trees.
St George’s Day (Thurs 23 April)
Celebrate Scout's patron saint by bringing people together and promoting Scouts in your community. Learn more about celebrating St George's Day here. You can mark the occasion with a blanket badge from Scout Store, too.
Activities to try:

- Host a scouts own.
- Renew your promise.
Morse Code Day (Mon 27 April)
This day commemorates the birthday of the co-inventor of Morse Code, Samuel Morse. Challenge yourself and learn a new skill.
Activities to try:
- Communicate in secret with Inspector Morse code
- Send messages using a torch in Moonlit Morse
- Crack the code with The road to code
- Buy Morse code blanket badge.
World Bath Bomb Day (Mon 27 April)
Bath bomb day celebrates self-care and relaxation with the use of bath bombs.
Activities to try:
- Create your own bath bombs.
- Spend time among trees in Go forest bathing.
- Explore survival hygiene in hygiene hijinks.
- Learn how to reduce your water usage.
International Dance Day (Wed 29 April)
Celebrate dance and bring people together.
Activities to try
- Try ceilidh dancing.
- Create a group dance routine.
- Work together and create a dance routine using LED in dancing in the dark.

Take action to fight against food waste on Stop Food Waste Day
Activities to try:
- Find out where your favourite food comes from in be a food detective.
