Our purpose
The UK International Team helps young people and volunteers connect with the global Scouting movement. Through international programmes, partnerships, events, and overseas adventures, the team promotes global citizenship, cultural understanding, and shared learning across borders. Their work ensures that Scouts in the UK can explore the world, build friendships worldwide, and play an active role in shaping the future of international Scouting.
What we do
We support international Scouting in the UK at every stage by enabling global experiences, strengthening links with other countries, and delivering opportunities that broaden horizons for young people and volunteers. This includes:
- Connecting young people with global experiences, helping them:
- explore global issues and perspectives
- take part in international adventures and events (e.g., World Scout Jamboree, Moots, Roverway)
- meet Scouts and Guides from across the world
- Promoting and supporting the UK’s active role in World Scouting, including partnerships with National Scout Organisations and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
- Supporting UK contingents and participation in major international events such as the World Scout Jamboree and other global gatherings
- Guiding overseas travel and Visits Abroad, helping groups plan, prepare and operate safe and rewarding international trips
- Supporting global programme development, including events like Jamboree on the Air / Jamboree on the Internet, international badges, Explorer Belt, Scout of the World Award, and other cultural exchange activities
Direct support for volunteers
We also offer direct support through a variety of practical engagement options:
- Information and guidance on planning international trips and linking with Scouts around the world
- Assistance with Visits Abroad processes, including logistics, risk assessment support and international programme information
- Support for UK Contingents attending major world events (planning, preparation & leadership)
- Resources for leaders and volunteers seeking ideas, training materials and safe, high-quality international programme delivery
- Collaboration with British Scouting Overseas and the British Overseas Territories to maximise opportunities for young people and adult volunteers

To make sure enquiries are directed to the right place as quickly as possible, please contact us via the Support Centre, who will route your query to the appropriate team.
