Our purpose

The UK Inclusion Team is a dedicated community of volunteers who are passionate about ensuring Scouting is a place where everyone feels welcome, included, and able to thrive.

Our vision for inclusion in Scouts is that every young person and volunteer (regardless of background, ability, gender, sexuality, faith or beliefs) can fully participate in Scouting and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

We work across the movement to remove barriers, champion diversity, and create environments where all young people can take part, have fun, and develop skills for life. Through practical guidance, specialist support, and collaboration with teams across the UK, we help ensure Scouting reflects the communities it serves.

What we do

We support volunteers across the UK by improving inclusive practice at every stage of the Scouting journey. This includes:

  • Developing guidance, tools and resources to help volunteers adapt programmes and activities so all young people can take part
  • Supporting leaders to remove practical, cultural and social barriers to participation
  • Strengthening inclusive learning opportunities and contributing to improvements in training and digital resources
  • Providing specialist advice on additional needs, disabilities, neurodiversity, and other inclusion considerations
  • Supporting events and national initiatives to ensure accessibility and inclusive design
  • Promoting understanding of different faiths, beliefs and identities within Scouting
  • Working closely with colleagues across Scouts to embed inclusion into policy, programme design and volunteer experience

Direct support for volunteers

We also offer direct support through:

  • Practical advice and guidance for volunteers supporting young people with additional needs
  • Resources and toolkits to help adapt activities and programmes
  • Event support to ensure accessibility and inclusive delivery
  • Opportunities to connect with inclusion specialists for tailored guidance
  • Webinars, learning opportunities and shared best practice across the movement
