UK Volunteering Team

Our purpose

Our vision for volunteering at Scouts is that it is easy, attractive and fun.

We work to make sure volunteering is flexible, inclusive and rewarding, and that all volunteers feel valued, supported and motivated to make a positive difference for young people.

What we do

We support volunteers across the UK by improving the volunteer experience at every stage of the journey. This includes:

  • Developing resources, guidance and processes that support volunteers from welcome and induction through to recognition and ongoing support
  • Improving ways of working that help resolve challenges and support positive volunteer experiences
  • Supporting local Volunteer Development Teams through clear communications, guidance and webinars
  • Developing resources for, and providing support to, local Trustee Boards
  • Helping ensure an excellent experience for UK Volunteers through the UK Volunteer Development Team
  • Developing learning materials and contributing to the ongoing improvement of Scouts’ online learning systems and wider digital tools that support volunteering
  • Working closely with colleagues across Scouts to shape and improve the digital systems volunteers use.

Direct support for volunteers

We also offer direct support through:

  • Attendance at local conferences, meetings and events with a volunteer focus
  • Webinars for Volunteer Development Teams
  • Webinars and support sessions for Trustees
  • Induction sessions and training for UK Volunteers
