Have a go at earning your Safety badge
In Scouts, safety always comes first. Whether we’re around fire, at home, travelling by rail, or out and about, we look after ourselves and each other. We stay alert, follow the rules, use equipment safely, and know what to do in an emergency. By being careful and responsible, we can enjoy adventures while keeping everyone safe. you could try the Beavers Safety, Cubs Fire Safety, Home Safety, Personal Safety or Road Safety, or Scouts Fire Safety badges.
Pride Month (June)
June is a month to celebrate and support the LGBT+ community. As Scouts, we want to make sure everyone feels safe and included. Take a look at how you can join in a Pride event.
Activities to try:
- Make colourful rainbows to celebrate how we're all unique
- Make a rainbow disc spinner
- Choose someone who inspires and make a Pride spoon puppet
Volunteers Week (Mon 1 to Sun 7 June)
Help celebrate all the volunteers across the country and all the wonderful work they do.
Activities to try:
Child Safety Week (Tue 2 to Mon 8 June)
Child Safety Week is an annual campaign run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) to raise awareness of the risks of child accidents and how they can be prevented.
Activities to try:
- Try water safety charades.
- Learn about hazards with hazard maps.
- Try safety superhero.
World Bicycle Day (Wed 3 June)
Get on your bikes and ride on World Bicycle Day. Celebrate the benefits of this fun and eco-friendly mode of transport.
Activities to try:
- Plan a bike ride with a twist in cycle slalom.
- Make sure you're ready with cycle safety.
- Learn some tricks with bike balance gymnastics.
Global Running Day (Wed 3 June)
Take part in a running activity, on the same day as people across the world.
Activities to try:
- Have a go at being an enchanted athlete
- Play muscle shuffle
- Take part in a warm up activity
- Race with your friends as part of a silly sports day
World Environment Day (Fri 5 June)
World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.
Activities to try:
National Fish and Chip Day (Fri 5 June)
Celebrate this iconic British dish.

- Have a quick relay race with Flapping fish
- Plan a fishing taster session
- Find the best chippy in your area with a Chippy hike
World Food Safety Day (Sun 7 June)
Learn about the risks of foodborne illness and how to keep yourself healthy.
Activities to try:
- Learn about kitchen hazards with Kitchen risk bingo
- Learn about bacteria with Home kitchen hygiene
- Act out a scenario, then make it safe with Not what it scenes
The Great Big Green Week (Sat 6 to Sun 14 June)
The Great Big Green Week is a celebration of action against climate change.
Activities to try:
World Oceans Day (Mon 8 June)
World Oceans Day celebrates collaborative conservation to protect our blue planet.
Activities to try:
- Learn about plastic pollution with this quick game Plastic or prey?
- Explore the seaside with a Coastal alphabet hunt
- Clean up a local waterway for marine area
- Play beach bingo
FIFA World Cup (Thurs 11 June to Sun 19 July)
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is going to be the biggest football event ever! It will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 48 countries playing instead of 32. That means even more teams will get the chance to join in the fun.

Drowning Prevention Week (Sun 14 to Sun 21 June)
Raise awareness of water safety ahead of a summer outdoors.
Activities to try:
- Learn about safe swimming with water safety charades
- Learn how to stay safe in cold water in Break the ice

World Refugee Day (Sat 20 June)
Build empathy and understanding of people who've been forced to flee their home country, often to escape conflict or persecution.

Show our loved ones how much we care on this special day.

- Develop your skills in electronics and create a light up card with LED's celebrate
- Learn about different families

The Kings Official Birthday (Sat 20 June)
Let's all celebrate The Kings (official) Birthday while it's not raining!
Activities to try:

Summer solstice (Sun 21 June)
Summer solstice is the longest day of the year. It's when one of the Earth's poles is tilted closest to the sun.
Activities to try:
- Discover the power of the sun with a DIY solar shower

International Day of Yoga (Sun 21 June)
This day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practising yoga. You could host a yoga session in your meeting place.

World Rainforest Day (Mon 22 June)
World Rainforest Day is about raising awareness of the importance of the rainforest and what it does for us and all wildlife that lives there.
Activities to try:
- Explore the impact of habitat loss in Habitat hunt
- Work as a team with Rainforest rescue
- Learn to identify different birdsongs
- Learn about native and invasive plant species
National Writing Day (TBC)
National Writing Day is an annual day dedicated to celebrating and practising creative writing.
Activities to try:
Armed Forces Day (Sat 27 June)
Celebrate our Armed Forces and take time to remember and reflect on the past.
Activities to try:
- Try wartime weaving
- Make a pebble to remember
- Make foam plate pilots
International Mud Day (Mon 29 June)
