Running a Scout Troop

Week by week, thousands of ordinary people show up at Scout meetings to empower young people to learn new skills, make new friends and learn to stand on their own two feet. No two weeks are the same, but the impact you make is always great.

Ask the Adviser - A Q&A with the UK Scout Section Adviser

As part of a special programme day for programme support roles, our UK Scout Section Adviser provided advice on where to find ideas for socially distanced activities. Watch the recording to catch up or download the slides

Where to find programme resources

There are a lot of resources now available to support leaders deliver amazing programmes, but it can be hard to work out what’s new and where to find it. To make it easier, here’s a list of places to find information and things you could try.

Socially distanced and online Scout activities

Some ideas to get you started (if you feel ready). Choose from a mix of digital and socially distanced ideas for meetings, activities, and adventures.

Delivering the programme over Zoom can be hard work, so we’ve put together videos to help.

Activities and badges to do at home

A three week plan you can follow along with your Troop to help them earn their Naturalist Activity Badge. We’ve planned two online sessions and some activities you can send out to the group for them to complete in their own time.
