Presentation Sign Off
Presentation Sign Off
The presentation sign‑off is a common reason for logbooks being returned. This usually happens for one of two reasons: either the statement doesn’t give enough context about what was presented, or it’s been signed off by someone who isn’t appropriate. Neither of these is the fault of the awardee, but they can delay approval.
The sign‑off should be written by an appropriate person and made up of a few short paragraphs. It should explain who the audience was, why they were suitable, and the format or style of the presentation. It also needs to confirm that all required elements of the award were covered, whether that’s the King’s Scout Award challenges, DofE, or the Gateway Award, depending on the route taken.
Good sign‑offs often include highlights from the presentation, any interaction with the audience, and a brief personal comment. They should be clearly positive and show that the presentation genuinely took place and met the purpose of the requirement.
Appropriate People to Sign Off the Presentation

The presentation should be signed off by someone who’s appropriate for the level of the award and independent enough to confirm it genuinely took place. This could include:
- Adult volunteers involved in the District 14–24 Team
- A District, County, Region or Area Lead Volunteer
- A member of a District, County, Region or Area Programme Team
Sign‑off must come from someone other than your usual leader. The key thing is that the person signing off understands the award, attended the presentation, and can confidently confirm that all required elements were covered.

####### produced a great presentation showing her achievements throughout her D of E and through her ICV. ####### doesn’t love public speaking so the presentation was one of the more challenging aspects of her award. She showed how she was able to engage her cubs in activities and enthuse them about the activities which she ran. ##### gave an in depth presentation to Scouts, Explorers, Leaders as well as other community champions who have helped him on his journey. This inspirational account has inspired other Young People to start planning/continuing with their own Top Awards journey and sensible questions were asked about how to plan their own KSA. The GLV shared that ##### will be the first in over 20 years at the Group to achieve a Q/KSA. Everyone is very proud of him, as he should be himself. |

### has played an active part in the Scouting movement in ###########shire and it has been lovely to see him grow as a young person from his time as a young leader and completing his Gold DofE, to now supporting the different sections across I organised my Scout troop’s participation in the Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) as part of providing an international programme experience. After reviewing the event requirements, I registered the group for JOTI each year. To ensure everything was conducted safely, I completed a full risk assessment covering online communication, supervision, safeguarding, and device use. I briefed the Scouts in advance on online safety and discussed what information could be shared. Parents were informed about the event, the adjusted meeting time, and the permissions required. The first session in 2023 I arranged for additional laptops and encouraged Scouts to bring their own devices, to use their Minecraft account. I also provided an additional device for those that did not have their own account sharing this on the big screen. I also brought my X Box for others to play Minecraft offline in another room. Another leader and I supported a group of Scouts who joined the international Minecraft server while other scouts enjoyed using an offline minecraft session before swapping Scouts between groups to ensure everyone had the online experience with other scouts across the world. Throughout, I monitored online behaviour to ensure the activity remained safe, inclusive, and enjoyable. For another session I created group accounts for the official Scouting Discord server and supervised Scouts as they chatted with others from across the world. At a further session in 2024 I also arranged for a scheduled international video call. This resulted in our troop being matched with a Scout group from South Africa. I worked with the Scouts to decide what questions they wanted to ask during the call, helping them End date 18/10/2024 think about what they were interested in learning. On the evening of the event, I set up the room so that all Scouts could see the video call while ensuring that only those with permission appeared on camera. During the call, I supported Scouts as they took turns asking and answering questions, helping them feel confident speaking with young people from South Africa. The discussions covered Scouting in both countries, allowing the Scouts to identify similarities and differences. After each event, I ran a troop forum where the Scouts reflected on what they had learned about international Scouting / about South Africa. They talked about the cultural differences they noticed, what surprised them, and what questions they might want to explore in the future. This reflection helped them deepen their understanding of global citizenship and the worldwide Scouting movement.. The sessions were successful because the Scouts engaged enthusiastically, communicated confidently with others, and enjoyed having different ways to take part, such as video, chat and gaming. I learned how to manage multiple digital platforms safely, how to balance safeguarding with giving Scouts independence, and how to guide young people through meaningful international conversations. and ensuring that the movement remains active and also now as a Scout leader. His commitment to the scout values is evident in the work I have seen face to face over the years and on camps and is clearly explained above. His presentation this evening was well detailed, and gave a clear explanation of what the King’s Scout Award is and what he has done to complete it. He included loads of photos of his years Scouting which enabled the presentation to be engaging for the young people watching, showing them a range of activities they could also do in their own journey through Scouts. It was a pleasure to see how much his communication skills have developed and the presentation came over clearly and with confidence Congratulations ###, well done |
| ######’s King Scout Presentation was engaging and he inspirited the Scouts in the troop where he is a Young Leader to embrace every opportunity available to them in Scouting. He shared his highs and lows from the activities he completed as part of the award and gave them a clear insight into the journey to become a King Scout. The Scouts asked ###### many questions about his activities, and you could tell that he had inspired them to become future King Scouts." |
