After your first meeting
After your first meeting
After you’ve held your first session, it’s a great opportunity to chat with your volunteer team and Group Lead Volunteer to discuss how it went. What worked well and what could be changed for next week?
As you get to know the young members and new volunteers, you might adapt your plans to suit each other’s interests. It’s an opportunity to be flexible and try new things!
Chat with your Group Lead Volunteer and Volunteer Team to find out what Scout uniform they’d like to wear.
Scout uniform is available from Scout Store.
Now you have young members attending your Section, it’s important to chat about waiting lists and feeder Sections with your Group Lead Volunteer and other Section volunteers.
This’ll help everything run smoothly in the Group as you plan when young people will join and leave your Section.
Once volunteers have completed their Growing Roots learning, they may like to continue their learning through Branching Out learning opportunities.
Branching Out is a selection of optional learning opportunities available to develop knowledge. These trainings are often delivered locally, so you can contact your District or County Volunteering Development team to find local opportunities.
Volunteers may also wish to work towards their Wood Badge. It’s an optional award which volunteers can work towards as part of their ongoing development.
You've held your first meeting. It’s time to celebrate!
It’s a great time to say ‘Thank you’ to your new volunteer team. We’ve got some ideas for thanking your volunteers.
Good luck with the continued success of your new Section!
