We know that a healthy lifestyle means something different for different people. That’s why we took a long time to work out what it means for Scouts. We looked at lots of research, and we spoke to lots of leaders and young people, and this is what we came up with.
We think that a healthy lifestyle, in a Scouts context, includes healthy eating, being physically active, getting quality sleep, looking after our mental health, and having an absence of substance use (alcohol, smoking, and drugs). There are other elements of a healthy lifestyle that we know aren’t included here, but these are the things that we feel link to what young people experience and learn about through Scouts.
