Our programmes of work

Our programmes of work

Due to the impact of COVID-19, our Skills for Life strategy has been extended until 2025.

These are the seven programmes of work that’ll help us to achieve this strategy, which are:

  • Volunteer Experience
  • 14-24 Programme Review
  • Perception
  • Digital
  • Early Years
  • Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Safer Scouting

We’re involving people on the ground every step of the way in the updated strategy, to make sure anything new works for the majority and genuinely make things better, easier and more fun.

Volunteer Experience

More well-trained, better-supported and motivated adult volunteers and young people from diverse backgrounds with access to great digital tools that support scouting.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Changing the way we think and do things so that we can become a movement that gives everyone what they need to thrive.

Race equity

It’s time for every one of us, as Scouts, to live by our promise, law and values by becoming a place that’s inclusive of all races and ethnic backgrounds, so that everyone can be themselves and thrive.

Safe Scouting

Keeping everyone safe is at the heart of our culture in Scouts. The Safe Scouting programme prioritises making further improvements to our assurance processes and digital tools to enable volunteers to better deliver safe scouting related activities in the future.

What we wear

After listening to research from thousands of young people and adults inside and out of Scouts, we’re now exploring how we can update what we wear, including our uniform, for Scouts age and above (10.5+) and adult volunteers.
