First steps checklist: all members

What all members need to do when first using the new digital system

Please complete the actions listed, in order, when you start to use the new system. This will allow you to see and do the things you need to volunteer.

1. Access the system

  • Check for an email from Scouts inviting you to reset your password for the new system. Click the link to go to the sign in page.
  • Next, enter your login email (the email you received the invite on) and click the ‘Send verification code’ button.
  • Enter the verification code you receive by email. You will then be able to create your new password.
  • Login to scouts.org.uk with your login email and password and explore the new system.

2. Set up your profile

  • Review your Declaration and confirm you accept it.
  • Review your personal details and your diversity monitoring information and update it if needed.
  • Check all of your membership information including the teams you’re a part of and the accreditations you hold. If anything's incorrect, talk to your Team Leader or Lead Volunteer.

3. Use the system

  • Start your learning: Visit My Learning and start on any new learning you need to complete.
  • Learn about the new ways of volunteering and visit Changes to our Volunteer Experience. They might change how processes are managed locally, so it’s important to make sure you know how everything now works.

Support

If you have any questions, check out our Support page to see the best way to get help.

Additional individual actions

Some volunteers might need to carry out some additional actions; check if either of these apply to you.

If you have had a permit issued after Compass went offline and before getting access to the new system, you need to make sure it's now recorded correctly on the new system before 31 December 2024. After this deadline has passed, it will no longer be valid. To do so, please apply for the permit through the system, so it can then be granted by your Lead Volunteer or a local Permit Approver.

First Response Trainers need to have the First Aid (16 hour course) skill credited by a Learning Assessor by 31 January 2025 to keep their First Response Trainer accreditation, otherwise it will be removed from their learning record and their accreditation will be invalid. To learn more on how to do this, please see the Digital Tool Guide: how to request to be assessed in a skill.
