What next?
What next?
When you’ve completed your Challenge Award, start by celebrating! You did it! Whether it went really well or you didn’t enjoy it you:
- Tried something
- Stuck with it
- Learned along the way
That’s what completing a challenge is about.
What do you want to do next?
- Level up – take this project further and explore more
- Share what you’ve learned – lead, support, or mentor others
- Try something new
- Start a different challenge award
- Take a break and just enjoy Explorers for a bit

Make sure you do record a short but precice account of the project and record any Key Dates so you can fill in your KSA (Kings Scout Award) Logbook in the future. You can find guidance on how to write this in our Top Awards Guidance. You could use a logbook to keep track of this inforation for all of your challenge awards.
What to focus on
- Helping Explorers recognise achievement
- Supporting next steps only if they want them
- Encouraging continuation without pressure
What to avoid
- Immediately pushing them into the next challenge
- Treating completion as a stepping stone only
- Dismissing smaller achievements
How you can support
- Acknowledge effort and persistence
- Ask:
- “Would you want to build on this, or try something new?”
- Let them pause if they need to
