County Hub
Information for our supporting volunteers in Counties and Nations
Patrols for Roverway 2024 are being organised by Counties in England, Nation HQs in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and by British Scouting Overseas.
These pages provide guidance to support your patrol(s) for Roverway 2024, and will be updated throughout our preparation journey. Information for participants can be found in our Participant Hub.
The last change was made on 8 February 2023 and affected Roverway On Tour (updated kit details).
Our Recruitment Guide to help you recruit, select and register a patrol is now archived and available for reference.
Participants must be born between 1 August 2001 and 22 July 2008, and will be organised into patrols of 5-8 people. The patrol will be living and cooking together throughout the event.
Each patrol must include a Patrol Leader (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) who will be aged 18 or over by 1 January 2024. Where a member of the patrol will be aged under 18 by 22 July 2024, there must be a minimum of two under 18s.
Information on participant fees can be found in the Participant Hub.
Counties, Nations and BSO are encouraged to consider local grants to ensure money is not a barrier to anyone being able to participate.
Counties, Nations and BSO will be responsible for collecting participant fees from their patrol members. We will issue four invoices with payment to UKHQ expected on the following schedule:
Payment |
Invoice per participant |
Invoice due date |

Invoices for Payments 2, 3 & 4 will be adjusted to account for participants with UKHQ grants. Payment 4 may be reduced to account for any cost savings secured by the CMT.
Our three regional events are now complete and we hope your participants had a great time with us. A summary of the information discussed will be shared with all participants.
Most attendees will have received their UK Contingent kit, and we will be posting remaining kit to individuals in March. Additional items of kit will be able for personal purchase directly via the CMT from February to March.
This document provides the role and training requirements for participants attending Roverway 2024. Counties, Nations and BSO are asked to support their patrol in achieving these requirements by 1 April 2024.
Scouts has a policy on pre-existing relationships for young people who turn 18, within the Safeguarding Policy.
As the young people involved cannot be involved in Scouts together, including large scale events, a person aged over 18 who is in an accepted pre-existing relationship with an under-18 year old cannot attend Roverway 2024.
Please engage early with the CMT if you are aware of any young people in this situation.
The Visits Abroad (VA) Process will be managed by the CMT and approved by the UK International Commissioner (POR 9.3.1.5e).
There is no requirement for individual patrols, Counties/Nations or IST volunteers to undertake the VA Process for Roverway 2024.
