Bring Roverway closer to home
10 activities to run with your section
There are Scouts all over the world. We come together at international events like Jamborees (for ages 14-18), Roverway (ages 16-22) and Moots (18-24), where we make friends and learn new cultures.
The next international event is Roverway 2024, taking place in Norway this summer. We have 330 participants and over 100 adult volunteers attending as the UK Contingent.
We’ve come up with lots of activities so you can learn about Norway with your section or patrol!
Food
- Cook Fårikål, the national dish of Norway!
- Make Norwegian waffles. Try your hand at making fresh Norwegian Waffles, also known as Hjertevafler.
Games
- Play gris, a fun Norwegian card game.
- Play stiv heks, a Norwegian wide game of tag.
- Play international-themed Pictionary. Compete against your friends as you explore international travel in this drawing game.
- Make an airport obstacle course, and see who can board their plane the quickest!
Craft
- Make julehjerter - a Scandinavian heart decoration.
- Make Northern Lights chalk art.
- Make a nisse - a festive Norwegian gnome.
Activity
- Plan a sustainable camp or sleepover. Discover ways to help reduce your environmental impact while running a Scout camp. You could even link it in with our Roverway themed camp!
Whether a young Squirrel tries a new game, an excited Cub creates their favourite waffle or an Explorer wants to try their hand at some Scandinavian crafts, these games and activities will help you all learn something new.
When you use one of these activities, be sure to take some pictures and tag the UK Contingent on social media!
