Badge of the month - Beaver and Cub Disability Awareness badges
The Beaver and Cub Disability Awareness Badge encourages young people to explore what disability means, learn how to support others, celebrate differences, and develop kindness, empathy, and inclusion in their everyday lives.
UK Disability History Month (Sun 14 Nov – Sat 20 Dec)
This month is a great way to learn about disability to create a more equitable way forward for all.
Activities to try:

International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (Tue 2 Dec)
On the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, Scouts reflect on freedom, dignity, and taking action to build a fairer, safer world for everyone.
Activities to try:

World Soil Day (Fri 5 Dec)
Did you know that soil is essential to our survival? World Soil Day celebrates the importance of healthy soil and sustainability.
Activities to try:
- Learn to protect our environment with the Cubs Environmental Conservation Activity badge.
- Explore our ecosystem with Web of life
- Make your own compost
International Volunteer Day (Fri 5 Dec)
On International Volunteer Day, Scouts celebrate the power of volunteering and the positive difference it makes in communities around the world.
Activities to try:
- Thank your Scout leaders by giving them these thank you notes.
- Find out about local charities that support the community.
- Share the kindness of volunteers in your community.
Pretend to be a Time Traveller Day (Mon 8 Dec)
On Pretend Time Traveller Day, Scouts use their imagination to journey to the past or future and discover new adventures.
Activities to try:
- Make a time capsule for your future self.
- Record your adventures by taking pictures.
- Recreate olden day pictures.
Human Rights Day (Wed 10 Dec)
Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It's the most translated document in the world and sets out the rights that everyone is entitled to.
Activities to try:
- Learn about the rights of children in this game.

Winter Solstice (Sun 21 Dec)
The Winter Solstice, marks the longest night of the year while we look forward to the return of longer, brighter days.
Activities to try:

Hanukkah (sunset Sun 14 Dec - nightfall Mon 22 Dec)
Hanukkah is a Jewish festival, which lasts for eight nights. It's sometimes known as the Jewish Festival of Lights.
Activities to try:
- Make a reflection paper chain.
- Have a menorah relay race

Christmas Eve (Wed 24 Dec)
Christmas Eve is celebrated around the world on the 24 December. Some countries may celebrate Christmas on this day, rather than on 25 December.
Activities to try:
- Make some salt dough decorations.
- Build your own snowman.
- Make campfire Christmas pudding.
Christmas Day (Thurs 25 Dec)
Christmas Day is a Christian festival that’s celebrated around the world on the 25 December. For some people, it celebrates the birth of Jesus, but for others it can simply be a time for family and kindness.
Activities to try:
- Play this festive relay game.
- Have fun guessing what's in the stocking.
- Bake some treats.

Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated after Christmas Day.

Hogmanay (31 Dec)
Hogmanay is celebrated on New Year's Eve. Did you know Hogmanay is the word for the last day of the old year?
