Using Resources

Using Resources is one of the six core skills for Managers and Supporters in Scouting.

Objectives

  • As part of the local Executive Committee, ensure that appropriate financial measures are in place.   
  • As part of the local Executive Committee, ensure that there is an adequate income for local Scouting including the identification of other income sources such as grants.   
  • Ensure that the health and safety of everyone involved in local Scouting is properly managed.   
  • Work with the local Executive Committee and others to ensure that local Scouting has sufficient physical resources to support its work with youth members.   
  • Work with the local Executive Committee and others to minimise the negative impact and maximise the positive impact that local Scouting has on the environment.   
  • Make decisions about matters within local Scouting based on the best available information.   
  • Manage information appropriately:  
    • Ensure that key knowledge within local Scouting is properly managed and used to improve the operation of local Scouting.
    • Ensure that all adults in local Scouting have the right information provided in a timely manner and in the most effective way.
  • Provide resources, support and encouragement for teams of volunteers within local Scouting to work in many ways.
