Plan, do, review

First suggested by Boing Kids
Plan how you’ll tackle a game or activity, then put it into action and reflect with your team.

Back to Activities

  1. Before everyone gets stuck in, the person leading the game or activity should introduce it and explain what everyone will have to do.
  1. Everyone should get into small groups.
  2. Each small group should spend two minutes planning how they’ll work together to solve the task or complete the game.
  3. Everyone should get stuck into the activity or game.
  4. After the activity or game, everyone should get back in their small groups. They should chat about their plans and why they worked or didn’t work.

Reflection

This short activity is designed to encourage reflection after another activity or at the end of your session. It’s a great chance to take a moment, think, and share ideas before you move on.

The intended learning outcomes of an activity or game can be a great place to start your thinking, just remember that people may have learnt something totally different and that's great too.

Safety

All activities must be safely managed. You must complete a thorough risk assessment and take appropriate steps to reduce risk. Use the safety checklist to help you plan and risk assess your activity. Always get approval for the activity, and have suitable supervision and an InTouch process.

Reflections are personal – different people will have different opinions and perspectives. Encourage everyone to make this activity work for them; they should feel free to take part in a way that they’re comfortable with.

All Scout activities should be inclusive and accessible.
