Make sure you choose a menu that suits the weather and adapt as needed. Check that you have a reliable and safe source of drinking water.

Storage of food and preparation are also areas with increased risk when the weather is cold. Store food carefully, as hungry animals will be looking for an easy source of food.

Make sure frozen food has defrosted as required before using.

If you are cooking in mess tents, make sure good ventilation. Use appropriate fuel for the weather conditions. Please refer to the Gas Safety Guidance.
