Planning

Planning

Make sure your programme has flexibility and you regularly review what you’ve planned, in order to respond to changes in weather and the needs of your group. When the weather is cold or wet, extra planning may be needed for your activities. Don’t forget to risk assess as part of your planning process, and review ahead, during and after the activity.

Build in refreshment breaks, ensuring that everyone keeps hydrated and has time to get warm and dry. Think about how to provide warm drinks in a safe and accessible way, and if you don’t have the right facilities then a cool drink is still important to keep hydrated.
