IST Weekend Q&A Summary

The UK Contingent Team received a high number of questions across the IST Leader Weekend (10-12 July 2026), many of which were similar, or the same question asked in a different way. These are the key messages from each theme of question:

Travel

  • Travel options are now locked: Members of the IST were given three travel options to get to the Jamboree. If you chose ‘Full Travel’ (option 1), it is not possible to scale down to options 2 or 3.

  • Flying dates: Those travelling with the UK Contingent should expect to leave the UK on 26th or 27th July 2027 and return on either 10th or 11th August. All IST will be travelling to Warsaw. You will depart from a local airport to you which serves Warsaw.

  • Entry and Exit Points: For those making their own way to/ from the Jamboree, you will be able to enter and leave the Jamboree via the official points as designated by the Jamboree Organisers.

  • Additional Tours: Previous UK Contingents may have offered ‘tours’ to IST following the Jamboree. To reduce risk, these tours are not offered for this Jamboree. Those who have arranged their own inbound travel are welcome to continue exploring Europe after the event.

  • Units travelling on coaches: It will not be possible for IST to travel with Units on coaches to the Jamboree. IST are required before the Units to help prepare the site. It is not possible for IST to ‘ship’ any kit with Unit coaches.

  • Driving by car to the Jamboree: You should plan for there to not be parking at the Jamboree site and make arrangements elsewhere.

 Tents and the Jamboree Site

  • Tents are provided by the UK Contingent: They will fit 2 members of the IST. Each person will have their own individual pod. You will not be able to bring your own tent. Currently, it is not possible for IST to keep the tents.

  • Tent Buddies: You will be able to select a preference for your tent buddy, who can be of any gender.

  • IST Campsite: We will work with the Jamboree Organisers to understand the layout of the IST area of the campsite. It may be possible that UK IST Rafts could camp together.

  • Site practicalities, such as cash/ card and availability of WiFi and charging stations will all be communicated to contingents ahead of the event. We are hoping our Team will find out more at the Head of Contingents meeting in Poland this summer.

 IST Roles at the Jamboree

  • UK Scouts Membership System: IST Roles will be added to the membership system as an accreditation, not a role.

  • Role Allocations: You will be able to express your preference for roles. We are aware that the IST Roles Catalogue is available, so please do take a look for ideas! We know this really matters to IST, so as soon as we have an update, we’ll be sure to share how you can select your preferences.

 UK Contingent Kit & Uniform

  • IST Kit: Kit will be shipped to you in the Spring of 2027. All members of the IST will be issued with official UK Contingent kit:

    • Necker/ Scarf

    • UK Contingent Badge

    • Holdall Bag

    • Day Bag

    • Water bottle

    • UK IST Tshirt

  • Issuing of uniform: Members of the Contingent will not be issued a uniform shirt for the Jamboree.

    • The decision has been made from a sustainability perspective to not provide a uniform.

    • Members who are Air or Sea Scouts will be able to proudly wear their own colour uniform to the Jamboree, rather than be issued with a standard Adult Scout shirt.

    • Should an IST member wish/ need to purchase a uniform, there will be a discount code provided from Scout Store to help reduce the cost. This code will be provided in the coming months.

  • Expectations around wearing uniformWe are still a uniformed organisation, and members are expected to wear uniform at key times of the Jamboree:

    • Arriving at the Jamboree Site

    • Opening Ceremony

    • Closing Ceremony

  • LegwearThe UK Contingent will not be issuing uniform legwear.

  • Badges/ Badge Placements:

    • The UK Contingent badge should be worn above the pocket. Unit badges should be placed on the right sleeve.

    • All UK Contingent members will be issued with a Union Flag badge, which should be worn at the top of the right breast.

  • Scout Store discount codes will be issued in an IST email.
