Suspension outcomes

Suspension outcomes

Once the statutory agency involvement concludes and local enquiries are done, you’ll agree the suspension outcome with the UK HQ Safeguarding Team. You’ll also decide who’s the best person to communicate the outcome to the volunteer.

If the volunteer is suitable to return to Scouts, you’ll have a Suspension Review Meeting with them to help decide on the outcome. The UK HQ Safeguarding Team will provide you with guidance on how to conduct the meeting.

There’re 4 possible outcomes: Reinstate, end the role, end membership and exclusion.

Reinstate

You agree the volunteer can return to their team and role. You might also need to apply some conditions to their return, such as completing additional learning.

The volunteer must agree with the conditions to be able to return to Scouts.

End the role(s)

You agree the volunteer can return to Scouts, but in a different role or team. You might also need to apply some conditions to their return, such as completing additional learning.

The volunteer must agree with the conditions to be able to return to Scouts.

End membership

You agree the volunteer can’t return to Scouts. They may apply to re-join Scouts after a defined period of time.

Exclusion

The UK HQ Safeguarding Team recommends the permanent ending of membership. This means they won’t be able to volunteer with Scouts in the future. A Chief Volunteer has to approve this recommendation.
