UK Local Communications Team Member
Join our UK Scouts volunteer team
Equal opportunities
Scouts is an equal opportunity recruiter. We're committed to diversity and actively seeking applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, in particular, Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities.
About the role
The UK Local Communications Team Member plays a vital role in helping Scouts share their positive impact with the wider world. This role exists to train, encourage and support local volunteers to confidently tell their stories through external media, including newspapers (print and online), radio, TV and magazines.
Working as part of a friendly, collaborative and fast-growing team, you’ll help local communications volunteers across the UK improve the quality and reach of their media coverage. By supporting strong storytelling, effective processes and up-to-date best practice, you’ll help ensure the achievements of young people and volunteers are seen, heard and celebrated.
This role directly contributes to reaching new communities, attracting more volunteers, and enabling even more young people to develop Skills for Life. Tasks are shared across the team based on individual skills, interests and availability, making this a flexible and rewarding opportunity for anyone passionate about communications, media and supporting others to succeed.
The UK Local Communications Team is part of the wider UK Perception Team.

UK Local Communications Team
Scouting has an incredible story to tell. Every day, young people and volunteers across the UK are achieving amazing things, and yet we don’t always shout about it. I’m passionate about building a team that can help elevate these stories and support local volunteers to confidently share the joy, impact and relevance of Scouts.
With experience in radio and TV production, I know just how powerful the right story can be. By working together, we can make sure Scouts’ voice is heard more often, more clearly and by more people - and I’d love you to be part of that journey.
