Equal opportunities

Scouts is an equal opportunity recruiter. We're committed to diversity and actively seeking applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, in particular, Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities.

About the role

The UK Flags Team Leader provides leadership for UK Flags (UK LGBTQ+ Support Team), the national LGBTQ+ network and community of practice within Scouting. UK Flags exists to support, connect and represent LGBTQ+ members and allies across the UK, helping ensure everyone in Scouting feels welcome, valued and able to belong.

UK Flags brings together volunteers and members who want to share experiences, build supportive networks and help strengthen inclusion across the movement. Through events, networking spaces, Pride activity and peer support, the network helps create opportunities for learning, connection and visibility for LGBTQ+ people and their allies in Scouting.

As UK Flags Team Leader, you will guide the continued development of the network following its recent refresh. You’ll lead a small management team and support volunteers to deliver engagement activities, events and community spaces that bring people together and strengthen support for LGBTQ+ members across the UK.

Working closely with the UK Inclusion Team, you will help shape the direction of UK Flags, ensuring it remains a welcoming and supportive community while building connections across the movement.

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a growing national network, support passionate volunteers, and help make Scouting a place where everyone truly belongs.

If you already volunteer with Scouts, please take time to think about how this UK role would fit alongside any other roles you hold, and have a conversation with your current Team Leader before applying.

For some people, taking on a UK role may mean stepping back from, or handing over, another role so they can give each one the attention it deserves and have a positive and rewarding volunteering experience.
