Windsor - On the day - Queen's Scout Award holders and King's Scout Award holders' guests

If you're a guest of recent Queen's Scout Award or King's Scout Award recipient, find out what happens at the Day of Celebration and Achievement below, including important information on tickets and security to make sure you can take part.

Outline of the day

Morning

Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts will begin their day at Victoria Barracks, just down the road from Windsor Castle, from 9am. We request that you do not drop off Queen's Scouts or King's Scouts directly outside the Barracks as this causes traffic problems.

The Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts will spend the morning rehearsing. In this time, we encourage you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Windsor. For ideas of things to do in the area, please visit the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead website

The rehearsal finishes around 11:30am-12:00pm, at which point the Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts will be free to join you in town for a short period of celebration and lunch. Windsor can get very busy and you don't have a huge amount of time, so we recommend planning your lunch break in advance.

Afternoon

The Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts form up in Mews Road (entrance via the Learning Resource Centre on St Albans Street) from 12:45pm, where they'll prepare for the formal start of the Parade.

Adult Award Holders and all guests will queue up outside the Admissions Centre to enter the Quadrangle to watch the parade between 12:00-1:30pm. Please follow the times on your ticket, as we can't admit late arrivals.

The Parade enters the Quadrangle at 1:50pm. While you wait, you'll be entertained by the Scout band and Drum Corps, and members of the UK Leadership Team and Scout Ambassadors will greet guests.

Along with the Chief Scout, an invited guest will conduct the Review. After the Review, there'll be an informal Parade around the Quadrangle.

At 3pm, you'll follow the Parade to the Lower Ward where you can listen to the National Scout Service over the PA system outside St George's Chapel.

At 4pm, the Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts march back to Mews Road, and they'll likely be dismissed at about 4.15pm. There's always a risk of delay in some areas of the event, so please prepare for them to be dismissed as late as 5pm.

Stewards will be wearing armbands, and they're on duty to help you. We hope you have an enjoyable day.
