UKHQ Accreditations

Understand which UKHQ tasks are shared through accreditations

Responsibilities of UKHQ include organising contingents for international events, as well as coordinating State Duties responsibilities. 

The UKHQ International Team shares some of these responsibilities with volunteers who have the right skills and experience through accreditations. These are outlined in the descriptions below.

Purpose: 

Our International Service Team Members support international events such as World Scout Jamborees, Roverway, or World Scout Moots. They’re volunteers who run the day-to-day tasks at the event site like the programme or logistics.   

Tasks: 

  • Help out with any tasks needed by the event organisers to keep the international event running. These will be shared out based on the needs of the event and the volunteers’ skills and experience. 
  • Create an amazing and memorable experience for young people attending. 

Who can have this accreditation: 

  • Any full member (except anyone whose only role is Trustee, and any roles that do not have a criminal record check)

What learning is needed: 

Module 19 International

Who can give or remove this accreditation: 

UKHQ staff who support the International Team

Purpose: 

Our World Organisation of the Scout Movement Volunteers attend and support events organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).

Tasks: 

  • Represent Scouts at conferences, seminars or workshops in Europe and around the world.
  • Work with the International Team to prepare for these activities.
  • Encourage and support the group attending the event to make sure it's an enjoyable and very worthwhile experience.

Who can have this accreditation: 

Any full member (except anyone whose only role is Trustee, and any roles that do not have a criminal record check).

What learning needs to be completed: 

Module 19 International

Who can give or remove this accreditation: 

UKHQ staff who support the International Team

 

The UKHQ Programme Team shares State Duties responsibilities with volunteers who have the right skills and experience through accreditations. These are outlined in the description below.

Purpose: 

Volunteers with the State Duties accreditation provide support across the UK during significant moments and events. This could be anything from assisting a Royal Garden Parties to supporting the Festival of Remembrance.   

Tasks: 

Tasks will vary depending on what’s happened. Generally, they can expect to: 

  • Help out with any tasks needed by the event organisers. 

If leading a team: 

  • Support and lead the team for the duration of the event. 
  • Check in on the team’s physical and mental well-being regularly, and make sure everyone’s OK. 

Who can have this accreditation: 

  • Any full member 
  • If leading a team, the volunteer should ideally have some leadership experience with young adults. 

What learning is needed: 

None

Who can give or remove this accreditation: 

UKHQ staff who support the Programme Team
