Guide on how to authorise and remove a proxy

For volunteers who aren’t able to access or sign in to the digital system themselves, proxy access allows another volunteer to carry out certain tasks on their behalf. This may include updating personal details, accessing communications, applying for permits, or requesting nights away authorisations.
Proxy access is a last resort to support volunteers when other alternatives for assistance aren’t possible.
I need a proxy to help me. What do I need to do now?
If you need a proxy, your District or County Lead Volunteer can arrange for another volunteer to carry out tasks on your behalf. However, a proxy can’t complete your learning tasks. Also, volunteers relying on a proxy can’t hold roles that involve approval processes or require direct system access.
Start by signing in to scouts.org.uk.
On your welcome page:
1. Click ‘My membership’.
On the left-hand side menu (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right):
2. Click ‘Proxy access’.
On the ‘My proxy’ page:
3. Click the proxy member’s name from the list to open their profile.

2. Click ‘Search member’.
On the ‘Member search’ page:
3. Type the member’s name, surname or membership number into the text box and click ‘Search’.
4. Click the member’s name on the list.
On the left-hand side menu, under the member’s name (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right, then click the member’s name):
5. Click ‘Authorise proxy’.
On the ‘Authorise proxy’ page:
6. Click ‘Change’ at the top right.
7. Type the proxy member’s name, surname or membership number into the ‘Select member’ box and select the member from the dropdown list.
8. Type the ‘Proxy start date’ into the box.
9. Type the ‘Proxy end date’ into the box.
10. Click ‘Authorise proxy’.
A message will appear at the bottom of the page confirming that you've successfully authorised a proxy.

On the top right (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right):
2. Click ‘Search member’.
On the ‘Member search’ page:
3. Type the member’s name, surname or membership number into the text box and click ‘Search’.
4. Click the member’s name on the list.
On the left-hand side menu, under the member’s name (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right, then click the member’s name):
5. Click ‘Authorise proxy’.
On the ‘Authorise proxy’ page:
6. Click ‘Change’ at the top right.
If you want to change the proxy member, edit the 'Select member’ box, select the member’s name from the dropdown list and then click ‘Authorise proxy’.
If you want to edit the proxy dates, make the necessary changes and then click ‘Authorise proxy’.
If you want to end a proxy, edit the ‘Proxy end date’ box and then click ‘Authorise proxy’.
A message will appear at the bottom of the page confirming that you've successfully saved the changes.
