Unit Team Leader Weekend Q&A Summary

The UK Contingent Team received a high number of questions across the Unit Team Leader Weekend, many of which were similar, or the same question asked in a different way. These are the key messages from each theme of question:

Uniform / UK Contingent Kit

  • Issuing of uniform: Members of the Contingent will not be issued a uniform shirt for the Jamboree. This idea was proposed at the Unit Leadership Conference in March 2026, and we had mixed feedback from Unit Leaders.
    • The decision has been made from a sustainability perspective to not provide a uniform.
    • This is an item all members of The Scouts should own, regardless of Jamboree attendance.
    • Should a young person wish/ need to purchase a uniform,  there will be a discount code provided from Scout Store to help reduce the cost. This code will be provided in the coming months.
    • Members who are Air or Sea Scouts will be able to proudly wear their own colour uniform to the Jamboree, rather than be issued with a standard Explorer Scout shirt.
  • Expectations around wearing uniform: We are still a uniformed organisation, and members are expected to wear uniform at key times of the Jamboree:
    • Arriving at the Jamboree Site
    • Opening Ceremony
    • Closing Ceremony
    • Any other ceremony your Unit may attend (eg. Flag raising)
  • There is no expectation to wear Uniform to travel
  • Legwear: The UK Contingent will not be issuing uniform legwear. Units should agree how they will ensure they are presentable when uniform is worn (ie. Shirts buttoned, and legwear a sensible/ matching colour across the Unit).
  • Badges/ Badge Placements: The UK Contingent badges are deliberately woven, rather than embroidered to ensure that the detail of the design was retained.
    • The UK Contingent badge should be worn above the pocket. Unit badges should be placed on the right sleeve.
    • All UK Contingent members will be issued with a Union Flag badge, which should be worn at the top of the right breast.
  • UK Contingent T-shirts: These will be cotton, as they are a piece of merchandise rather than a working item of clothing.

The Jamboree Site & Tents

  • Tent numbers: You will be provided with enough tents to ensure you can cater to a boy/ girl split appropriately. Each adult will have their own ‘pod’ of the tent.
  • Space on campsites: We are confident, based on the measurements provided by the Jamboree Organisers, that the tents will fit on each Unit’s campsite.
  • Unit Kit: You will be provided two additional hold-all bags for any Unit kit. You are welcome to bring the traditional bunting, flags, and other decorative items for your campsite.
    • Once it’s confirmed what the Jamboree Organisers will provide an update for Units.
  • Young Person Supervision: Leaders and young people should agree the general levels of supervision from Unit Leaders during the Jamboree. Young people should have the opportunity to explore the site freely, but should never be on their own, and should always be with other young people. Remember, POR and UK Scout Safety rules still apply overseas.
  • Restrictions around knives: For anything related to the law in Poland, we suggest you start with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s guidance
  • Food will be provided for every day of the Jamboree.
  • WiFi and Data provision is yet to be confirmed by the Jamboree Organisers. Once again, when the UK Contingent knows more, we shall update Units.
  • Water activities will be available at the Jamboree, so young people should pack swimwear. Specialist equipment will be provided.

IST Connections, Event Management & Data

  • IST Members from your patch have been shared with your Nation/ County/ Area Lead Volunteer. To connect with local IST members, please contact the relevant Lead Volunteer.
  • EventsAir access: Only one leader from the Unit can have access to the Unit members’ data on EventsAir. Should the Unit Team Leader wish to delegate this to a member of their team, please email [email protected] with your request.
  • EventsAir issues/ questions: Please email [email protected] and the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Resources from any UK Contingent events can be found via the Unit Leader Hub of the Scouts website
  • Loco Parentis: We will provide a template form should you need to provide this at any border crossing.
