The UK Contingent’s Otter-ly Brilliant Brand

The secret’s out and we are so excited to share the design for the UK Contingent badge and branding for the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland.

Everyone’s new favourite otter was officially launched at the UK Contingent Unit Leadership Conference at Yarnfield on Saturday 7th March, marking an exciting milestone as preparations for the Jamboree continue.

The UK Contingent's branding is an important part of every Jamboree experience. It becomes a symbol of identity, neckers will be worn with pride and badges will be swapped with other Scouts from around the world. We wanted to create a design that felt distinctive, making us stand out as a Contingent.

The Story Behind the Design

So let us introduce you our otter, named Oddie!

Oddie’s name comes from the Polish word “odwaga”, meaning courage, which connects perfectly with the spirit of the Jamboree in Poland and the event’s theme of bravery.

Otters symbolise joy, playfulness, curiosity, friendship and community – all themes native to both the UK and Poland.

In the design, Oddie is shown wearing a Scout necker and holding the Poland Jamboree logo between its paws, like a treasured pebble, a small detail that represents the value and excitement of the experience ahead.

Designing within the Jamboree Guidelines

The badge was created using the design template and guidelines provided by the World Scout Jamboree organisers. These ensure that each contingent badge fits within the overall visual identity of the 2027 event while still allowing countries to express their own character.

Designed with Young People

Young people were involved throughout the process, helping shape ideas and providing feedback on the final design.

We also consulted with a range of groups, including religious networks within Scouts, to ensure the design is inclusive and representative of the diverse community that makes up the UK Contingent.

This collaborative approach helped us ensure that the final badge reflected not just a design, but the voices and ideas of the young people who will proudly wear it.

A Badge to Be Proud Of

As the journey to the 2027 World Scout Jamboree continues, Oddie will become a symbol of the adventure ahead, representing the UK Contingent, the fur-endships to come and the shared spirit of Scouts across the world.

We can’t wait to see it worn by our contingent throughout our journey. It's going to be otter-ly brilliant!
