UK IST Media Team Roles

Help tell the story of the UK Contingent at the Jamboree

As part of the IST Media Team, you will play a key role in capturing the energy, experiences and voices of the World Scout Jamboree! 

The UK Contingent is offering a chance for a small number of IST members to apply for a role supporting the UK Scouts Media Team in Poland. These roles are for those who have already been appointed as a member of the UK Contingent IST. 

If successful in this opportunity, working with the UK Media Team would be your role on site at the Jamboree, rather than a role allocated by the Jamboree Organisers.

There are three roles available. We’re keen to hear from applicants with a wide range of experiences. 

Content Generators will be part of the on‑site IST Media Team for the UK Contingent. The role focuses on capturing and producing content for social media, radio, print and online news. 

You will create written pieces, photos, short video clips and audio, suitable for a wide range of channels. Tasks include gathering quotes, recording video messages, drafting news updates, supporting interviews and taking photos. You will help participants share their stories across UK Contingent platforms and with external media. 

You will ensure all content is accurate, produced quickly and aligned with UK Contingent brand guidelines and messaging. This role requires confidence in a busy on‑site environment, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach. 
 

Key skills for the role: 

  • A strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Your own mobile phone, laptop or tablet to work on
  • A good understanding of engaging content across social media platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to shoot efficiently and edit quickly to meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow brand and tone of voice guidelines
  • Confidence approaching participants to gather quotes and interviews
  • An honest assessment of the physical demands of covering a large site
  • Familiarity with content creation and editing tools (eg Canva, CapCut, Adobe etc) (desirable)

A responsibility of the IST Media Team is capturing high-quality images of the Jamboree, for use on social media and in external media. We'll be supplying images to outlets including national papers and local news websites. We're looking for talented and enthusiastic members of the UK IST to join our photography team and showcase the event at its best.

Photographers will be expected to produce high-quality digital images that meet specific briefs, reflect our brand standards and are delivered to tight deadlines. You'd be joining a supportive and collaborative team, who often also carry out tasks alone.

 

Key skills for the role:

  • A strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently 
  • Have your own digital camera, lenses and laptop 
  • A good understanding of digital photography, image editing and formatting 
  • The ability to shoot efficiently and edit quickly to meet deadlines 
  • An honest assessment of the physical demands of covering a large site 

The IST Media Team will capture and supply high-quality video content of the Jamboree, to be used by a wide range of media. This includes local and national broadcast news outlets, as well as online and social media content. We are seeking talented and enthusiastic members of the UK IST to join our video team and help showcase the event at its best.

Video team members will be expected to produce high-quality video content that meets specific briefs, reflects our brand standards and is delivered to tight deadlines. You would be joining a friendly and collaborative team, who also often carry out tasks independently.

 

Key skills for the role:

  • A strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently 
  • Have your own digital video camera (handcam or DSLR), lenses and laptop 
  • A good understanding of video production and editing in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar (with a willingness to learn new software) 
  • The ability to shoot efficiently and edit quickly to meet deadlines
