Insurance at home

Find information about insurance for participating in Scout activities from home.

As a member of the Scouts, there are three kinds of insurance arranged by Unity Insurance, for which the premiums are covered by your annual membership fee. These are:

It's important to remember when participating in activities at home, activities are only covered by Unity Insurance if:

  • A registered adult volunteer is leading the activity
  • This adult has effectively risk assessed that the activity is safe, appropriate for the young people and it is completed in line with Scouts activity rules and activity guidance.
  • We recognise that it won't be possible to complete a full risk assessment of the physical area that is being used at home to take part in an activity, like you would in the meeting place. Please complete the risk assessment using the information available to you
  • While participating in the activity, young people are supervised by an adult

A young person is not covered by insurance, if these points are not followed and a young person completes an activity alone, without a registered leader having checked the content and appropriateness of the activity.
