Roverway
Roverway is a European event for Scouts and Guides aged 16-22, which takes place every 4 years .
The most recent Roverway took place in Norway in 2024, where a UK Contingent of 440 Scouts took part. The next Roverway will take place in Switzerland in Summer 2028.
The motto of Roverway 2028 is “Battasendas” - the Rhaeto-Romanic word for Scouts. It symbolises friendship, community, nature, growth, adventure and everything that Scouting can mean for young people. The hosts aim to use this motto to create an inclusive and unifying foundation for everyone attending Roverway 2028.
What happens at Roverway?
Roverway is a unique event due to its age range and emphasis on youth-led adventure. Participants from each Nation are organised into patrols - small groups that explore the host country together.
The event is typically divided into two parts:
Semi-independent exploration around the host Nation
Participants explore a 'path' in their patrols. Each UK patrol will be joined by several patrols from other countries.
Paths provide an opportunity for participants to explore a local area, plus a programme theme like adventure, culture or creative.
Through living, cooking and working together, participants from different countries learn to share languages, cultures and experiences.
Main Camp
At the end of each Path, all participants join the main camp.
The camp is a chance to share stories from their paths and to take part in a programme of activities with young people from across Europe and beyond.
More information about Roverway 2028 can be found on the organiser’s website.
The UK Contingents Team is currently working with the organisers to learn more about the event and has started planning for a UK Contingent to attend Roverway 2028. More details about the event and how to attend as part of the UK Contingent will be shared soon.
