About the role
The World Scout Jamboree is the largest gathering of Scouts from across the globe, bringing together an estimated 40,000 young people and adults in Poland in the summer of 2027. UK Scouts will showcase its culture, values and impact through a dedicated national Pavilion at the event.
We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic UK Pavilion Team Leader to lead the development and delivery of the UK Pavilion. This exciting volunteer role offers the opportunity to create a memorable, interactive experience that celebrates the very best of UK Scouting on a global stage.
Working with a team of volunteers and key stakeholders, the UK Pavilion Team Leader will be responsible for designing and delivering an engaging UK Pavilion that brings UK Scouting’s values, culture and achievements to life. The UK Pavilion will provide opportunities for international visitors to connect, learn and collaborate, helping to build lasting friendships, strengthen global partnerships and promote greater cultural understanding.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-profile international project and play a key role in representing UK Scouts at one of the world’s most significant youth events. As a volunteer role, it offers the chance to make a lasting impact while developing leadership, project management and international engagement experience.

Key tasks
- Establish the Pavilion Operating Model, ensuring clear governance, planning processes, and ways of working. Engage and collaborate with relevant teams, volunteers and stakeholders across UK Scouts to gather insight, build support and enable ongoing participation throughout the project.
- Lead the design, development and delivery of the UK Pavilion, creating engaging displays, activities and experiences that align with the Pavilion’s educational, cultural and communications objectives, while maximising visitor interest and participation.
- Work closely with the UK Contingent Team and World Scout Jamboree organisers to coordinate the Pavilion’s location, layout, infrastructure and operational requirements, ensuring readiness for the event.
- Recruit, lead and support the Pavilion volunteer team, fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing environment throughout the planning, build and delivery phases.
- Oversee the operation of the Pavilion during the Jamboree, ensuring a safe, welcoming and impactful experience for all visitors while representing UK Scouting in line with its values and standards.
- Manage and escalate incidents, concerns or safeguarding matters through the appropriate UK Contingent processes, ensuring they are handled promptly and in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Build and strengthen international relationships through the Pavilion, creating opportunities for cultural exchange, collaboration and lasting connections between Scouts from around the world.
- Support the Chief Volunteer for International in the planning and delivery of the UK and Commonwealth Receptions, helping to ensure successful and memorable events that strengthen international engagement and partnerships.

Experience of Scouting, with a good understanding of its values, culture and ways of working.

Knowledge of international Scouting, including international events, partnerships and opportunities for global engagement.

Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering projects or events, ideally involving multiple stakeholders and volunteers.

Understanding of programme delivery, including relevant considerations around safety, safeguarding and risk management.

Time commitment
This role includes delivering on a range of tasks that need to be completed in a short timescale. If you already volunteer with Scouts, please take time to think about how this role would fit alongside any other roles you hold, and have a conversation with your current Team Leader before applying.
For some people, taking on a UK national role may mean stepping back from, or handing over, another role so they can give each one the attention it deserves and have a positive and rewarding volunteering experience.
This will be a busy, active planning and coordination role in the preparation phase, from initial recruitment date until July 2027. The role will then move into an operational role at the Jamboree event in July/August 2027. The role is temporary and will cease once the Jamboree has finished in August 2027.
You will be expected to attend the All Adults Weekend on 14-16 May 2027 and may be invited to relevant UK Contingent Team meetings up to July 2027.
Fees
As an attendee of the World Scout Jamboree, the Pavilion Team Leader will have fees applicable to the role to attend. The fee for the Pavilion Team Leader will be £2,660. The fee will include travel to, and attendance at the Jamboree, food, accommodation, a UK-based preparation event, UK Contingent kit, and insurance. Given the later recruitment timeline, a bespoke payment schedule will be developed, this will be confirmed following recruitment.
2027 World Scout Jamboree
We are delighted that UK Scouts will be represented with a national Pavilion at the 26th World Scout Jamboree, taking place in Gdańsk, Poland, from 30 July to 8 August 2027.
The World Scout Jamboree is a truly unique event, bringing together thousands of young people and volunteers from across the world to celebrate friendship, adventure and international understanding. The UK Pavilion will play a vital role in showcasing the best of UK Scouting, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and helping to build lasting global connections.
