Eddie Ward announced as the UK Contingent Leader for Roverway 2028
Following a competitive search process, we’re delighted to recruit a new volunteer within the UK Leadership Forum. Chief Volunteer for International, Rob Murray, is pleased to confirm that Eddie Ward has been appointed as the UK Contingent Leader for Roverway 2028, which will take place in Switzerland.

Eddie brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role and will lead the UK Contingent as preparations begin for this exciting European Scouting and Guiding event. We congratulate Eddie on his appointment and look forward to working with him and the wider leadership team on the journey to Roverway 2028.
As UK Contingent Leader for Roverway 2028, Eddie will play a vital role in defining, organising, and delivering an exceptional experience for the UK Contingent. Working closely with local and national volunteers and staff, he will draw on the insights of previous contingents to ensure success.
Eddie will be working over the coming months with the UK Contingent Management and Support Team to map out the structure and approach of the UK Contingent. We would ask local teams to hold onto their excitement for a little while longer. Communication will come out to Counties and Nations in early 2027.
Eddie's Scouts journey
Eddie became a Scout leader at 18 years old and three years later opened a Venture Scout Unit, continuing to lead it as it evolved into an Explorer Scout Unit. Nearly 10 years ago he was appointed County Commissioner (now County Lead Volunteer) for Cumbria Scouts, a role that he says has been one of the greatest privileges of his scouting journey.
Eddie has held a variety of District, County and National roles, and currently volunteers with the Public Affairs & Advocacy Team, as well as previously helping to shape the inaugural Community Impact Team.
Outside of Scouts
Professionally, Eddie is a Commercial Manager for a Design and Build Developer in Carlisle, where he has worked for the last 20 years, managing large scale projects.

Throughout my time in Scouts, I’ve been passionate about helping young people find their voice, grow in confidence and seize opportunities they might never have imagined. As UK Contingent Lead, I’m committed to ensuring young people from every County can take part in Roverway, becoming pathfinders on an unforgettable international adventure while gaining skills for life.
