Why update your brand?

Share

You’ll know by now we have a new brand and focus on skills for life. Here are some of the reasons making the switch will support you locally.

Leader and Scout group

It’ll help you recruit more volunteers

When presented with materials in the new brand, parents were 44% more likely to volunteer. 14-18 year olds were a third more likely to join, while parents from BME backgrounds were 44% more likely to volunteer and 69% more likely to send their children to Scouts (Populus 2018).

It’ll help you be recognised

There are over 160,000 charities in the UK, all with their own logo, colours and messages. When we all have a consistent message and visual identity, people will quickly recognise you as part of the UK Scouts family. When we promote Scouts nationally in media or films, people will more easily link your local group, district, county or region with the wider movement.

It’ll help you be more trusted

From this year’s research, we know that Scouts is trusted by the vast majority of parents. If you don’t look like you’re part of the UK family of Scouts, people may trust you less and be less likely to offer their support.

It’ll help people understand what we do

Independent national research from the last five years showed that the public doesn’t clearly understand the benefits of Scouts. When we tested the skills for life message, over 75% of people said it was the message that stood out and made them most likely to support and send their children to Scouts.

It’ll make you more visible and accessible, especially online

Our old visual identity, including our logo, was created seventeen years ago in 2001, before social media and doesn’t work well online or in a small size. Our new logo can be easily recognised whatever size it is, while the colours and font are designed to be easily accessible.

Our new brand font is free

We’ve updated our brand font, moving to the free Nunito Sans and away from the Serif, which was a paid-for font.

It’s easy to do

Simply register on the Scouts brand centre to download your local logo, create posters, flyers and banners, then order a new meeting place sign. We’ve arranged a 20% discount on all Scout meeting place sign orders until 1 February 2020.

Remember we have until the end of May 2020 to make the switch to our new brand locally and nationally.
