Learn how to be confident in decisions around money.
How to earn your badge:
Understand how money works and what affects the way we use it.
Find out what shapes your spending habits, learn how to manage your money, and think about why some jobs are paid more than others and if that’s always fair.
Build your money skills by trying activities such as trading, budgeting and finding ways to grow your money.
It’s about making good choices, using what you have wisely and seeing how your decisions can lead to success.
Take action and find out how to help people with money.
You could organise a fundraiser, start a local project, help others understand money better, or learn how small loans can support businesses here or in other countries.
Take on a challenge that’ll improve your money skills and help you plan for the future.
Whether it’s budgeting for a holiday, saving for your dream car or creating a savings plan, use your thinking to find smart, practical solutions to real-life money problems.
Get creative and make something that helps others learn about money in a fun way.
It could be art, music, a project or a game. Use your ideas and be inspired by your community to share important money lessons.
Tips
You can buy the Explorers Money Skills Activity Badge from Scout Store
To get the badge, you can either try some of our example activities, or come up with your own with support from a Scouts volunteer or trusted adult. The activities should be challenging for you and take a reasonable amount of time.
You can offer flexibility in the activities and encourage Explorers to choose activities that reflect their interests and skill set. We’d recommend an Activity Badge should be achievable within 3 weeks of starting the activities.
This badge has been created in collaboration with Young Enterprise. This collaboration has meant we have been successful in gaining the Young Enterprise Quality Mark for the badge and related activities. For more information have a look at the Financial Education Framework website.
June 2026.
Requirements can be adapted to suit each young persons abilities. See our guidance on flexibility.
