Attending a Discovery event is your first step in completing your Scouts of the World Award (SOWA).
At a Discovery event, you’ll be introduced to the award, hear about previous SOWA projects and learn skills needed to complete the award. You’ll also meet a group of like-minded new friends, who’ll support you throughout the award.

The Scouts of the World Award is all about delivering a project that makes the world a better place and it is one of Scouting's Top Awards. Attending a SOWA Discovery is the compulsory, first step to begin your award.

Where?
1st Carnforth Scout Hut, Base Camp, Off Kellet Rd, Carnforth, LA5 9LN
When?
Saturday 20th June - Arrive between 8:30am and 9:00am. We will start at 9:15am.
Finish Sunday 21st June - Leave 2:00pm.
How Much?
£12 - this covers camping and food (lunch and tea on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday)
What you'll need to bring?
- Food for the weekend - Tent
- Sleeping Bag
- Clothing for being outdoors (including waterproofs)
- Toiletries
- Torch
- Plate, Bowl, Mug and Cutlery
- Notepad and Pen
- Electronic Device for project planning (optional)
