Responsible to: Head of Finance
Department: Finance
Base location: Gilwell Park, Chingford, London (with hybrid working at least two days a week at Gilwell Park)
Term: Fixed Term Contract for 8 Months
Salary: £68,000 per annum – Band H, Level 3 (Inclusive of Outer London Weighting & Market Supplement)
Hours: 35 hours per week
A bit about the role
As the Financial Controller, you will oversee the Financial Accounting and Transactions Teams, ensuring accuracy in accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and banking operations. You will be responsible for managing financial compliance, audits, and regulatory obligations such as VAT and Corporation Tax. In addition, you will develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity, advise and guide staff, volunteers, and trustees on financial matters, and ensure the efficiency of financial systems.
You will also oversee treasury management, including cash handling and debt collection, while driving continuous improvement across financial processes and systems. Leading a motivated, high-performing team will be central to your role, fostering collaboration, innovation, and achieving impactful outcomes.
We are looking for a proven leader with strong communication skills, an ability to inspire and motivate others, and extensive experience in senior financial roles. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and a passion for continuous improvement are essential. The role requires someone capable of building relationships quickly and managing financial operations effectively.
