Updates from the Safety Team
Safety culture is the shared values, beliefs, and everyday behaviours that determine how we approach risk and safety. Often summarized as "how we do things around here", it means prioritising safety naturally - even when no one is watching.
On this page you will find helpful, current information for Safety Advisers and other Leads to help you stay up to date in your role and give you tools to be more effective in creating a positive safety culture.

The latest safety notice is relevant for All Volunteers, specifically Lead Volunteers and Chair of Trustee boards re: CO risks

Changes to POR and guidance are listed on our Activity and Safety Updates page

The following case studies can help you to understand how and why incidents happen with real-life examples

The Office for Product Safety and Standards produces and shares safety alerts, reports and recalls for unsafe products
How to access incident data
It is important to ensure that you allocate your County Safety Adviser and District Safety Lead the correct accreditation on MyMembership, or they may not receive specific information, offers of support, or details relevant to their role.
- County Safety Adviser should be in the County Leadership entitlement team and have the Safety Adviser accreditation added to their role
- District Safety Leads should be in the District Leadership entitlement team and have the Safety Lead accreditation added to their role
Access to County Incident Reports
County Safety Advisers can access a monthly incident report through a unique OneDrive link sent to them and to the County Lead Volunteer. The folder is automatically updated with the previous month’s report during the first few days of each month.
If you have not received or do not have access to this folder, please contact [email protected]
County Lead Volunteers have access to a County-level incident Power BI dashboard provided by the Data & Insights team at Scouts HQ. They can access this using their @scouts.org.uk email address and the link shared with them.
