44th World Scout Conference 2027

Founding the Future Together

The Scout Association is hosting the 44th World Scout Conference in London in 2027. We hope to bring delegates from 176 member organisations to London for the largest assembly of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement to 'found the future' of Scouts.

Thank you to everyone who supported us in our successful bid to host the next World Scout Conference.  We are very grateful and looking forward to welcoming the Scouting world to London in 2027.

Things may go quiet for a while as we plan for the next stage. We will keep this page up to date as things develop.

What is the World Scout Conference?

The World Scout Conference is the governing body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. The Conference takes place every three years and provides an opportunity for 176 National Scout Organizations to play an active role in shaping the standards, policies and shared goals of the Scout Movement worldwide.

The Conference defines the general policy of WOSM and takes decisions to advance the purpose and interests of the Scout Movement. It also elects the voting members of the World Scout Committee, admits new Member Organizations to the Movement, and decides the host countries of future World Scout Events such as Jamborees and Moots.

Each National Scout Organization can send up to six Delegates and other Observers to the Conference. Typically 1,500 – 2,000 attend the event.

Why the United Kingdom and London?

2027 marks many milestones in UK Scouts history and we wish to welcome you to celebrate with us. The 44th World Scout Conference marks 120 years since Scouts was founded and 20 years since the 2007 World Scout Jamboree in Essex. We also want to play our part in World Scouting. By hosting the Conference we can demonstrate our support for Scouting across the globe.

The UK hasn't hosted the World Scout Conference since 1979. The 44th World Scout Conference would mark the return of the conference to London for the first time since the first Conference in 1920.

London has lots to offer as host city for the 44th World Scout Conference. It's a vibrant cultural hotspot that celebrates diversity with festivals and events from different cultures. London fosters tolerance and understanding, and is home to places of worship of all faiths, all of which ensure a rich tapestry of multicultural diversity in the city. With restaurants serving food from all over the world, exceptional transport links, the 44th World Scout Conference will be an efficient and sustainable event.

It'll provide a unique opportunity to visit iconic Scout landmarks, like Gilwell Park and Brownsea Island, collaborate on ideas, and strengthen international unity.

What does it mean for UK Scouting?

This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate to our members that we are part of a global movement alongside 57 million Scouts around the world.

Attendance at the conference will be limited. However there will be opportunities for people to help plan and deliver the conference, and take part in programme activities exploring the conference themes at a local level. Initially there will be a small organising team, but this will expand for the delivery of the conference in November 2027. We will advertise roles as they become available with an open selection process.

We will seek ways to engage with everyone around the UK:

  • Produce new programme material about World Scouting
  • Seek local support for visits before and after the conference to places like Brownsea Island, Gilwell Park, the sites around London and maybe further afield.
  • Live stream some parts of the conference.

Please let us have any ideas that you may have.
