Session summary
In this session, you will try this game to see just how hard it can be to sneak past a train and learn why you should never trespass on the railways. The stakes are high, and the consequences can be severe, so it's crucial to understand the dangers and stay safe.
Along the way, you’ll also encounter the people at train stations. While we see lots of faces every day, sometimes people might say they're OK even when they're not. Learn to spot the signs and commit to asking people twice. It’s important to stay aware and look out for others, especially in busy environments like train stations. Let’s get started and stay safe on the tracks!
Safety message
- Complete frequent headcounts, especially during transitions and activities, to ensure no one is missing and everyone remains safe.
- Always complete a register at the start of the meeting to record who is present.
- If you are meeting or going out from your usual meeting place, remember there must be a designated leader in charge, who is not counted in the adult to young person ratio.
- Always remember to risk assess and plan for free time, even if it's just the first five minutes of the meeting.
- Activities start when the first person arrives and end when the last person leaves, including leaders and their children.
- Remember to review your risk assessment to ensure you have enough adults, which may be more than the minimum ratio.
- Maintain and keep medical records up to date, check for any allergies or intolerances, this way you can plan to have the right resources.
- Check the space is for hazards, keep the exits clear, and know the location of the nearest first aid kits.
