Session summary
In this session, try a twist on the classic game of 'Red Light, Green Light.' But instead of just stopping and going, you'll be learning how to stay safe at the railway, recognizing the important rules to follow when you're near tracks and stations. It’s all about being aware and making smart choices to stay safe!
Next, you'll practice spotting changes in your surroundings and learn to see it, say it, and sort it. Whether it's small shifts or big changes, this game will help you sharpen your attention and become more aware of what’s going on around you.
Safety message
- Complete frequent headcounts, especially during transitions and activities, to ensure no one is missing and everyone remains safe.
- Always complete a register at the start of the meeting to record who is present.
- If you are meeting or going out from your usual meeting place, remember there must be a designated leader in charge, who is not counted in the adult to young person ratio.
- Always remember to risk assess and plan for free time, even if it's just the first five minutes of the meeting.
- Activities start when the first person arrives and end when the last person leaves, including leaders and their children.
- Remember to review your risk assessment to ensure you have enough adults, which may be more than the minimum ratio.
- Maintain and keep medical records up to date, check for any allergies or intolerances, this way you can plan to have the right resources.
- Check the space is for hazards, keep the exits clear, and know the location of the nearest first aid kits.
