Satvika Mishra announced as new UK Youth Lead

Satvika, 22, who was approved by the Board at the weekend, brings strong experience of Scouts, youth leadership and governance to her new role. She also has a clear commitment to making sure young people can shape their time in the movement. She will champion young people's voices in Scouts, support Youth Leads across the UK and contribute to UK-level decision making. 

Satvika will succeed Ayesha Karim who has given outstanding service as UK Youth Lead since 2022.   

Lived experience  

Having progressed through our youth sections, beginning as a Beaver Scout, Satvika is now an adult volunteer in Greater London North East. Satvika combines lived experience as a young person in Scouts with skills developed as an adult volunteer supporting young people directly.  

A proud Wood Badge holder, she brings impressive skills and knowledge to her role, including membership of her Scout Group Trustee Board, and volunteering service as a volunteer for the Scout section and as a Young Leader. 

Giving more young people a place to belong 

She is passionate about giving all young people a place to belong, delivering our strategy to 2035, and is keen to look at new ways how we can improve inclusion and expand representation.  

Satvika is also committed to exploring the challenges and opportunities young people face today and how they can develop decision making at all levels.    

Outside Scouts, she has spent five years' as a youth badminton coach, and held leadership positions at university, including Course Representative, Maths Ambassador and Secretary of the Women in STEM Society. 

Public service  

Satvika has also represented Scouts on major public occasions, volunteering at the King's Coronation in 2023 and taking part in the Remembrance Day Parade at Whitehall. 

Satvika has a keen interest in international Scouting too, and is part of Greater London North East Unit Leadership Team for the 26th World Scout Jamboree, Poland in 2027.
