Israel and Palestine: A statement from UK Scouts

Share

We have been horrified by what we have seen in Israel and Palestine and the impact we know this is having on young people in the UK and around the world. We’re witnessing terrible scenes of children and civilians dying, bloodshed and violence. We recognise the deep grief that is affecting our communities in the UK.

We don’t pretend to have the answers to this conflict, and we can only begin to understand the toll this is having on everyone impacted. We are hearing from many Scouts about how this is felt by our young people. We know the impact of increasing intolerance, and the fear that creates. Scouts stand against Antisemitism and Islamophobia in all its forms.

Scouts stands for peace, and we educate young people to work towards a kinder, respectful and more peaceful world. You can read more about what this means here.

We want to see peace now, an end to all hostilities, and the delivery of humanitarian aid that is so desperately needed by so many.

We know there are differing views about how this can be achieved or what should happen, but we are a global movement of over 57 million Scouts that believes in the power of humanity and the safety and protection of all. We stand in solidarity with all Scouts affected by the conflict.
