New Youth Covid-19 Support Fund worth £16.5m now open for applications

Share

In collaboration with a group of youth charities, we’ve been lobbying the Government to provide funding to help with the impact of the pandemic for some time. As a result, on Friday 16 January the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced a new Youth Covid-19 Support Fund worth £16.5m.

This is separate and in addition to the £1m provided to Scouts, contributing to the £1.8m Recovery Fund.

The fund allows local uniformed youth groups and national umbrella bodies, in England, to apply for funding to help pay for any shortfall during November 2020 and March 2021.

The total amount members can apply for is the lower of:

  • 25% annual expenditure
  • any shortfall between Nov 2020 and Mar 2021
  • or £250k

Whilst applications close on Friday 12 February, you can apply earlier as they’ll be considered on a rolling basis.

If you believe you’re eligible for both the Youth COVID-19 Support Fund and the Scouts Recovery Fund (which is also funded in part by DCMS), please still prepare your application. We’re working out how these two funds will interact but we don’t want you to lose preparation time whilst we do.

For support with your application, register for one of the webinars:

  • 10am Thursday 21 January, hosted by DCMS
  • 7pm, Thursday 28 January, hosted by Scouts
