Be the light in the darkness

Share

Scouts are joining in with the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust’s (HMDT) ‘Be the Light in the Darkness’ photography competition.

We‘re looking for young people, aged 14-25 from across the UK, to submit original images, either individually or as part of a group, that focus on the people, groups, images and objects that light up the darkness. This could be related to Scouts or something completely different - it’s up to you!

You’ll be able to submit one photo, a creative title and 50 word description to accompany your entry; so really think about what you want us to know about your photo. Why did you choose to take it? How did you frame it? What’s the story behind the image?

The competition will close on 10 January 2021 and an expert panel of Scouts judges will shortlist the top 12 photos to go to the national final, run by HMDT.

Guidelines

  • You must be aged 14–25 to enter.
  • You can take part as an individual or as a group.
  • You can only submit one photo.
  • Your photo must be taken between 24 November 2020 and 10 January 2021.
  • You can use phone filters. You can’t use any editing software such as Photoshop.
  • Do not recreate historical photos or events; any photos that do so will be disqualified.
