Chief Scout’s Platinum Award ICV list

International, community, and values (ICV) list

You’ll need to do two activities from the list. The two activities should come from different sections.

We’re all about flexibility when it comes to the ICV list – you should be able to shape your own award and push yourself to develop in areas that you enjoy while developing skills and achieving things that make you proud. For a good place to start, search ‘ICV’ in the Activity Finder for activities to do with your Unit or another section. But remember, It's always best to check your plans with your mentor before you get started!

International

This section is all about exploring global issues and taking part in international opportunities.

  • Take an active part in a project with an international development organisation (for example with Save the Children or British Red Cross). Present your experience to your Unit or another relevant audience, such as another section.
  • Take an active part in a camp in another country, for instance, a Jamboree or Moot. Present your experience to your Unit or a relevant audience, such as another section.
  • Complete a three-day expedition in the UK with similar aims to those of the Explorer Belt.
  • Take an active part in an international camp in the UK. An international camp has participants from other countries and an international element of the programme.
  • Take part in a project at a campsite abroad, such as Kandersteg.
  • Organise a series of two evening programmes for your Unit or another section on an international theme agreed with your mentor.
  • Complete any activity of a similar nature agreed beforehand and registered with your mentor.

Community

This section is all about developing your knowledge and skills and putting them into practice to make a real difference in your local community.

  • Research and participate in an environmental or community based project to make an improvement in your local environment or community. This could be within Scouts or another organisation (for example WWF or Mind). Present your experience to your Unit.
  • Complete the requirements to achieve stage three or four of the Community Impact Staged Activity Badge.
  • Work with a younger section to help them achieve a stage of their Community Impact Staged Activity Badge or their Environmental Conservation Activity Badge.
  • Complete any activity of a similar nature agreed beforehand and registered with your mentor.
  • Search for 'ICV Community' on the Activity Finder for ideas on how to get started or activities you can run with your Unit or another section.
  • You can find support for the Community Impact staged Activity Badge through A Million Hands. There are lots of activities to choose from.
  • How about helping to spread the word about Scouts, and getting more young people enjoying all the fun and adventures that you’ve had? What about exploring how Scouts in your area could become more inclusive and diverse? Talk to your local Commissioners to understand what’s already happening and how you can get involved.

Values

This section is all about reflecting upon your own and others’ beliefs and exploring what the Scout values mean to you.

  • Run an activity with another section to explore the Promise & Law and how they live by their Promise. Reflect on how you live by your Promise, and discuss with your mentor.
  • Take a regular part in spiritual reflection. This could be within or outside of Scouts (for example, at a place of worship).
  • Take an active part in a project examining your own faith or beliefs and understanding how they affect you. Discuss your experience with your mentor or present your experience to a relevant audience.
  • Work with a younger section to help them earn their Faith Activity Badge (Beavers), My Faith Activity Badge (Cubs and Scouts) or World Faith Activity Badge (Cubs and Scouts).
  • Organise a series of two evening activities for another section to explore different faiths and beliefs.
  • Complete any activity of a similar nature agreed beforehand and registered with your mentor.
