Stay safe – assess the risks

Stay safe – assess the risks

Review your programme and make sure that it is suitable for the conditions, some activities are best avoided to reduce risks when it’s extremely cold and wet, for example long hikes in the open or water activities.

Dynamic risk assessment (reviewing hazards as conditions change) is an important part of managing the risks you have already considered, or identifying new ones.

Don’t forget to add darkness, rain or snow as potential hazards to your risk assessments, especially for activities. Make sure you have an adequate first aid kit and the training to use it.
