The readiness levels across UK Scouts

The framework for face to face Scouting should be applied to whatever the readiness level is in your nation or jurisdiction. Check the readiness levels below.

England

Readiness level: AMBER

This means: Restricted size group sessions can take place indoors and outdoors.

Maximum group size: 15 young people and up to 5 leaders.

Relevant Government Guidance: National Youth Agency

Face Coverings:

  • Adults must wear face coverings unless they are leading an activity.
  • Scouts and Explorers must wear face coverings indoors, including when using toilet facilities.

Readiness level: RED

This means: No face-to-face activity, meetings or residential activities

England Variation includes:

  • Greater Manchester North
  • Blackburn
  • Burnley & Pendle
  • Preston
  • Bradford South
  • Bradford North
  • Keighley
  • Glendon
  • Northampton
  • Birmingham
  • Solihull
  • Halesowen
  • Sandwell
  • Walsall
  • South East Leicestershire

The following Districts in Greater Manchester East:

  • Glosso
  • Goyt
  • Manchester South
  • North Manchester
  • North Tameside
  • Tame Valley
  • Tameside South

Maximum group size: 0 

Scotland

Readiness level: YELLOW

This means: Restricted size group sessions can take place outdoors and indoors.

Maximum group size: 30

Relevant Government Guidance: YouthLink Scotland

Face Coverings:

  • Not required for under 12's
  • For everyone else, face coverings are only required where social distancing is not possible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Scotland Variation

Readiness level: AMBER

This means: Restricted size group sessions can take place outdoors.

Maximum group size: 30

Readiness level: AMBER

This means: Restricted size group sessions can take place outdoors

Maximum group size: 30

Face Coverings: 

  • Face coverings required for over 11's only if social distancing is not possible.
Wales Variation

Readiness level: RED

This means: No face-to-face activity, meetings or residential activities

Wales Variations:

  • Caerphilly, Rhymney and Islwyn
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf District

Maximum group size: 0 

 

Northern Ireland

Readiness level: AMBER

This means: Restricted size group sessions can take place outdoors

Maximum group size: 30

Face Coverings:

  • Face coverings not required while only outdoor meetings are allowed.
Isle of Man

Readiness level: GREEN

This means: Limited group sessions can take place indoors and outdoors. 

Maximum group size: 30

Guernsey

Readiness level: GREEN

This means: All activities can resume for members who live within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.  No travel outside the Bailiwick for any Scouting purpose without written permission from HQ. No travel to the Bailiwick for any Scouting purpose.

Maximum group size: No group size restriction

Jersey

Readiness level: YELLOW

This means: Limited group sessions can take place indoors and outdoors. No residential activities

Maximum group size: Up to 40 people

 

 

British Scouting Overseas (BSO)

Readiness level: VARIES
