Resources for Promoting DofE

Videos

The DofE's YouTube channel is full of inspiring videos to watch and share. Here are just a few of them.

Getting started: Bronze, Silver, Gold

Choosing activities: Bronze, Silver, Gold

Benefits of the award (for parents/carers): Bronze, Silver, Gold

Word of mouth

Who better to talk about DofE than the young people who've completed it?

Why not invite them to talk to your young people about their experiences?

They could help you host an intro session – where you invite parents and carers along for an evening spent learning more about the award – or simply pop in for a chat and a cuppa with your young people.

They could even arrange to visit local schools, encouraging those who may be capped at Bronze level to continue their DofE journey through Scouts.

Introducing the DofE

Intro sessions are a popular way to introduce the DofE. As part of this, you could:

1. Include an activity. You could use the Introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award activity or find ideas on the the activity finder.

2. Get young people thinking about all the amazing things they could see and do as a part of their DofE

3. Invite parents/carers along to the session for extra support and encouragement (Who knows? They may even offer to help you run DofE, or to lend a hand occasionally)

4. Invite Scouts who'll be moving up to Explorers soon

5. Make it fun!
